What we are building
Tyred started in 2023 by sending mechanics to the bike instead of making people wheel a broken one to a shop. That still runs, and it is still the hard part: 30 minutes to a roadside breakdown, anywhere inside the M25, 9am to midnight.
The scale is what changed. We look after 45,000 bikes for operators who lose money every hour one is off the road - Europe's largest shared e-bike fleets, the UK's biggest delivery networks, a few public institutions. That means dispatch, condition scoring down to the component, and enough data to spot a failure before the rider does. More than 10,000 caught so far.
Both halves are one company. A model that predicts a snapped cable on Tuesday is worth nothing unless a mechanic is on the kerb on Wednesday morning.
What it is actually like
Wide remits and short lines. There is nobody sitting between you and the decision, and you will end up doing things that were not in the job description.
It also means shifting priorities and a fair amount of ambiguity. Some weeks the plan changes on the Tuesday. If you want a fixed remit and a settled roadmap, this is the wrong place, and we would rather say that now than at offer stage.
The upside is that nothing here is abstract. Whatever you work on, you can go and stand on a street in London and watch it either work or not. Not many jobs give you that.
