About the role
We're hiring a Full Stack Engineer to build the platform behind Tyred - the customer booking app, the admin and operations tooling behind it, and the integrations that keep the business running (payments, comms, payroll).
This is a great moment to join. We're a small team with no layer between you and production, and the platform is about to grow fast: mobile apps are on the way, the architecture is heading serverless, and the engineer we hire now gets to shape both. You'll pick up problems, not tickets: scope the work, make the calls, ship it, and own it once it's live. We're after someone who has done this before and can take a loosely defined problem all the way to production without close supervision.
The stack, and where it's heading
First principle: the right tool for the right job. We're not precious about languages or frameworks, and we expect you to challenge our choices when you see a better way.
- Frontend: Next.js / React / TypeScript
- Backend: currently a Python API - we're deliberately moving away from it, and new work increasingly lands in Next.js and TypeScript
- Cloud: AWS - a core part of our architecture, and where we're headed deeper
- CI/CD: automated pipelines for build, test and deploy
- Local dev: Docker Compose (containers run locally only, not in production)
- Plus MySQL, Stripe, and a growing set of integrations
Where we're going: a serverless architecture on AWS, serving the web app today and the mobile apps we're about to introduce. You won't inherit these decisions - you'll help make them.
What you'll own
- Features end to end, from UI to data model, shipped at pace
- The move towards serverless on AWS, and the gradual retirement of the legacy Python API
- CI/CD pipelines and the path to production
- Third-party integrations: payments (Stripe), banking (Revolut), telephony and email (Twilio, Resend)
- The groundwork for mobile apps running on the same platform as the web
What we're looking for
- Several years shipping production software across the stack - strong React/TypeScript, and solid backend experience in whatever language got the job done
- Hands-on AWS experience, ideally including serverless (Lambda, API Gateway, or similar)
- CI/CD is second nature - you automate the boring parts
- Comfortable with Docker for local development
- Pragmatic about tools: picks the right one for the job, not the fashionable one
- Comfortable in an early-stage startup: ambiguity, shifting priorities, direct access to the founders
- Bonus: experience shipping mobile apps, migrating legacy systems, or building marketplace products
