Why home insurance isn't enough
£500 to £1,500
Typical home-insurance bike cover limit
Home insurance usually includes some bike cover, but the limit varies a lot by insurer - anywhere from around £500 up to £1,500 or more, depending on who you're with.
If your bike, or your e-bike, is worth more than your policy's limit, you're covered for less than it would cost to replace. Cover away from home is often lower too, or excluded altogether.
That's a gap worth knowing about before you need to make a claim.
Theft, damage, and liability - sorted
Theft, on the road or at home
Locked outside a cafe or locked in your hallway - if it's stolen, it's covered.
Accidental damage
Crashes happen. A cracked frame or a bent wheel shouldn't come with a bill you didn't see coming.
Third-party liability
If your ride causes damage to someone else, or their property, you're covered too.
E-bike cover, done properly
Batteries, motors, and everything that makes an e-bike worth more - insured properly, not bolted on as an afterthought.
