How cycling insurance differs from home insurance

£500 to £1,500

Typical home-insurance bike cover limit

Home insurance usually includes some bike cover, but the limit varies a lot by insurer - anywhere from around £500 up to £1,500 or more, depending on who you're with.

If your bike, or your e-bike, is worth more than your policy's limit, you're covered for less than it would cost to replace. Cover away from home is often lower too, or excluded altogether.

That's a gap worth knowing about before you need to make a claim.

Theft, damage, and liability

We expect cover to include theft, accidental damage and third-party liability, subject to policy terms and conditions.

01

Theft, on the road or at home

Locked outside a cafe, or locked in your hallway.

02

Accidental damage

Crashes happen: a cracked frame, a bent wheel, a snapped mech.

03

Third-party liability

Damage you cause to someone else, or to their property.

E-bike batteries and motors

Designed to include cover for batteries, motors and key e-bike components.
